If you replace your Hard Disk Drive, does it wipe the storage on your computer? And if so, how do you transfer the data from the old HDD to the new HDD?
If you have all of your software keys I recommend installing windows from scratch onto the new hard drive. do that with the need HDD installed and the old HDD disconnected once done you can plug the old HDD back in and transfer your files. the other option is to use programs like acronis true image and image your current hard drive and put the imager onto the new hard drive than expand the partition and format the old HDD.
Is this a laptop or a desktop? Either way no put the process of doing it is completely different. if a desktop do you want the new HDD to be the boot drive?

This is a desktop. I am replacing my GPU and PSU, and am thinking of replacing my HDD also.
You can either install an additional Hard drive and boot from your current drive or you can boot from the new drive. either way your files can be preserved but I need to know what you want to do with the new HDD?
