Question Replacing Windows with LINUX

I want to completely remove Windows 10 and replace it with Linux Ubuntu.

My Laptop is an ASUS X540L,with 4GB of RAM, 1TB of Hard disk, and an Intel i3 processor. It originally came with Windows 10.

I already have an Ubuntu Live pendrive.

I would like to know if I can backup the Windows 10 serial registration so that one day, if I wish to go back to Windows 10, I can replace Ubuntu with Windows 10. Or, one day I may wish to do a dual boot (but now I don't want a dual boot). If it is possible to go back to Windows, how can I back up the serial registration (plus any other file for that matter)?

Link your current 'license' to a Microsoft account.

Later, if you wish to go back to Windows, install, and it will activate.
