It was tested with an A10 platform with the A88X only for the cpu but it was using a 290X for the GPU

ya! I run @200% res scale ; so I'd like to see from 40FPS to 60FPS 😀

Well... it will improve CPU performance in a manner of speaking, because it has less overhead than Direct3D or OpenGL. This will benefit Intel processors too (when equipped with GCN discrete graphics). However, it may actually help AMD more (as a percentage) since they tend to have lower IPC, and thus Mantle helps reduce per-thread CPU bottlenecks. I bet this will provide quite a large boost to GCN-equipped APU-only setups quite a bit (especially mobile), since it somewhat mitigates the need for faster CPU cores. How big of an impact this will have depends on how many engines support it. Frostbite is a really big win, however.
Thats a bit confusing seeing that IPC has been a huge problem for the FX lineup since bulldozers release. I understand the games will be able to utilize the Processor more efficiently instead of being used by windows Thread Handlers, however I think you're expecting this to increase the efficiency far more than it actually will. I am an AMD fanboy but unfortunately you get what you pay for (which I am VERY satisfied with).

That's it AMD! Go on pour the renovation liquid to the glass wine of our faith in you!FANBOI HERE, AND I'M NOT SHAMED OF SPILLING IT!!11!!!1!1

Really? Nvidia still used directx not their own API like mantle.

to clear this up Nvidia does not have an API as was previously stated, they do have developer tools to help optimize games for Nvidia hardware and add things like GPU PhysX. Mantle is an "open source" API which reduces a lot of the DirectX overhead as long as your graphics card has a GCN architecture. I say "open source" because it only works with GCN cards and to reverse engineer the code to get it to work with other architectures would obviously be difficult but also might not even be worth the effort. Mantle promises in best case situations up to 40-45% performance boost, now because EA has yet to roll out the patch for BF4 and AMD has yet to roll out the drivers nobody can be sure what it will do. I am looking forward to it, but I wouldn't count AMD's chickens before they hatch.
