If the rumor is true than I just don't get it. Why should the Kinect have to be there? I can't think of a single good reason for it. It seem Microsoft and Sony really are having a foot shooting contest here.

Good point about the wife on netflix, I will absoulutely not pay for that. Even my kids could access it, I want an option turn it all the frig off. Plus half the time the kids are pulling their clothes off everytime we turn around so I cant have hackers accessing the "always on" spy network.

Because they want you to give them biometric data for free.

[citation][nom]kartu[/nom]Oh, now Sony is a cheapo one guy shop that doesn't even honor warranty, orly? Are you on a crack, payed by M$ or doing it "for fun", sir?[/citation]

He probably meant they both broke *out* of warranty and Sony wanted to charge $150/ea., which was exactly the same price after my original 60GB Fat Boy died they wanted to charge me after it died in three years of moderate usage (less than 50hrs/month). But it doesn't matter, he's right: the rate of the PS3 dying on people was HORRIBLE, and we all know about the infamous Xbox RRD issues as well. There are still complaints of the Xbox 360 running hot and the fan being too loud. And as anyone here knows, a lot of heat is not good long term for electronics.

I don't think either console was ready for prime time in 2006, the first iteration. Even the PS3 Slim has had some high failure rates, and I have two friends that have already been through one of those as well. That's NOT acceptable! I will wait before deciding to buy either of the next gen consoles and see how well they are built.

And yes, I'm a PC builder/gamer as well. I just can't take the PC with me everywhere to parties for sharing split screen gaming fun (that PCs can't do) and on business while traveling and staying in hotels solo in lame cities. So all those who are making fun of console owners and calling us "kiddies" just remember there are OTHER reasons people buy consoles for gaming and entrainment too.

[citation][nom]bisso[/nom]Hello home invasion! Let the conspiracy theories begin![/citation]
I don't think it's a conspiracy because the new crapbox also need a constant internet connection too. They already have back doors built in at the kernel level for the FEDS in their Swiss Cheese OS. MS is in bed with the FEDS. I have an answer though for those of you who must have one of these privacy invasion disasters, black electrician tape.

[citation][nom]lradunovic77[/nom]So MS thinks we need Touch and Kinect, wtf they are thinking.[/citation]
You need tiles too and need to be monitored while you play.

[citation][nom]JustLurking[/nom]I can't be the only one who reads the news about hackers accessing webcams over the internet and peeking into our kids rooms anytime they want. Until they get that problem solved, I'll have to pass on this.[/citation]

Just hang a printout of some plumper granny midget donkey porn in front of the camera for a day or two, and I doubt they'll want to hack that camera for very long.

[citation][nom]Onihikage[/nom]PS4: Internet connection requiredNextbox: Always watching and listeningBetween those choices, it'll be a cinch to convince all my friends to make PC their primary game platform. Playstation, XBOX, you had good runs, but your parents have destroyed you utterly. (Nintendo is still Nintendo, of course, which is why they keep making money)They'll just compare it to the Wii sensor bar. From a game development standpoint, this actually makes things easier, since now developers know with certainty the control and interface options that are available to every gamer using the system. This was part of why Kinect and Move didn't do so well - they were optional, so when a developer had to choose between polishing the game or adding motion controls which only a small percentage of the gamers could use, they made the obvious choice.[/citation]

I've been a console gamer for my entire life, and lately I've been seriously thinking on and off again about building a sick gaming rig. I have the money for it and everything, and just haven't built one yet. I was sort of waiting to see what the next gen consoles were going to be like, and these just aren't the improvements I was hoping they would make.

Not sure if anyone has thought about what happens if you've lost your internet connection?

There's been times where I didn't have internet for a few hours to sometimes a few days because of either an outage or I was changing between internet providers. I know people have gotten used to having an internet connection and have come to think of it always being on and available, but for days where you don't have an internet connection and then find out that you can't play your games would really piss me off. Also, what about you take your console to a relative's house in the boondocks and there is no internet service and can't play your games...
