I have an MSI KT6 Delta board and a Barton AMD2500+. When I open up system
info, the processor speed is reported at 1.1 ghz. It should be reading 1.8,
no?

I assume this is a Barton 166MHz FSB, correct? Sounds like your mobo is
defaulting to 100MHz (100 x 11 = 1100MHz) vs. its rated speed of 166MHz (166
x 11 = 1800MHz). You may need to go into the BIOS and *manually* change the
CPU FSB to 166MHz!

That fixed the issue. Thanks very much Jim.
