In NFSU2 how come some race you do get reputation points and others not?
What are the criteria?

You get reputation points by winning the races with a large lead. If it is a
close race you don't get any points.

Not sure what you get for your points though!

More rep points means more choices for a sponsor on
the next stage. There's a slight difference in money
depending on which sponsors you choose.

Strange the last race I had quit a large lead, so that is when I was
surprised not getting points. I thought the points give you a better
starting position, but perhaps I'm mistaken

Also, the more rep points, the quicker new parts are unlocked.

From what I read, parts are only unlocked by completing races.
