Question Request for Guidance: Testing Newly Purchased 450W PSU for Functionality

Hi everyone,
I'm about to upgrad my system's PSU from a 280W to a 450W model. This is a Lenovo 14-pin MoBo so I don't have many option with the PSU that matches the rest of my equipment.
Prior to installation, I'd like to ensure the new PSU's functionality by performing tests at the lab before I purchase it.
Could you guys provide me with some specific and accurate steps to verify the PSU's performance without risking damage to the components? Your assistance in guiding me through this process would be highly appreciated!

You mentioned "performing tests at the lab" so my premise is that you have a multi-meter and know how to use it.

Not a full test because the PSU is not under load.

One possible concern being that 450 watts may not be enough.
