Reset Bios + Password on Dell P4

i need to reset the bios and remove the bios password? i have tried using the CLR_PWD jumper and removing the mobo batt for 30 secs. didnt help.

p4 2.8ghz with ht
256mb ram
40gb hdd
350w codegen psu

Unplug the system from the wall outlet - remove the CMOS battery - press the on\off switch (this drains any stand-by power left in the PSU) - replace the CMOS battery plug in and try booting It should load the BIOS defaults and clear the password. (It's been awhile so I do not remember but it may still prompt with the enter password screen but just hitting the enter key should work if it does since the password has been cleared !)

it didnt work. i tried leaving it out for like 5 mins and it still asked for password and i just hit enter it said it was incorrect. i also tried using the clear jumper again no luck. should i do a bios upgrade? should i do the CLR_PWD jumper while its on? what should i do?

Not sure -- It has always worked for me -- but here is the steps to clear an HP Bios Password on a similar MOBO that might work !

Clearing the BIOS password
The BIOS password is used to protect BIOS settings from unwanted changes. If you have forgotten your password you may disable password checking.
To erase the BIOS password follow these steps:

1.
Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.
2.
Locate the jumper labeled CLR_PWD. The jumper is found at the lower right edge of the motherboard, near the SATA connectors.
3.
Move the jumper on jumper CLR_PWD to pins 2-3.
4.
Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.
5.
Hold down the F1 key during the startup process and enter BIOS setup to change or clear the password.
6.
After changing or clearing the BIOS passwords, remember to turn off the computer and reset the jumper to pins 1-2.

Not sure if that is how you were attempting it before or not !

I know some methods.
1. The best and easiest method: Cloce OS and shut down the electricity power of computer. Open your computer box, take out the cmos battery from the mainboard. Then the bios password will be reset to blank.

3. Use the bios password recovery tool http://www.biospasswordrecovery.com, but that is not free!

So I would suggest you the 1st method. Hope it helps.
