Resolution troubles with Intel HD Graphics 4000

So I'm running the integrated graphics through an i5 3570k and motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H including a VGA, DVI and HDMI. My pre-research indicated that I should be able to run 2560x1600.
Now I'm worried it might just have been for displayport. Anyhow, at the moment I'm just getting 1280x800 for DVI, and I know I should be able to do atleast 1920x1200 through DVI.

I've tried just adding customized resolutions in the graphic settings. I've been in the BIOS looking for something that could change things. Anyone that could guide me through this?

What's the resolution of the monitor you are using? Did you check for new drivers?

its a 30" 2560x1600.
i've tried with the newest graphic drivers; no change.
would there be any reason to flash the bios?

I went ahead and flashed the BIOS too. No change.

BIOS should not have much effect here, but the video drivers could, did you check those to make sure they are the latest?

If you are trying to run at high refresh rate, you may not be able to run at the highest res.

Is the DVI cable a dual link DVI-D cable? That is what is required to run at that high of a resolution.

Yeah I got the latest from intel's dl center. And yes it's a dual link DVI-D.

I haven't been trying to run at higher than 60hz. I tried lower though. No change. I've actually been trying to do as low as 1200x1024, and the same thing there... it's just not working.

Go to Advanced for the display properties, and check off "List modes your monitor may not support", or something similar, see if you get more options. It seems like the card and/or computer is not detecting your monitor's correct resolution. See if the monitor has a driver for it also, some do to add support for different modes.

Integrated Graphics Processor:

1 x D-Sub port
1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200
* The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200

While the HD 4000 graphics card may be able to support 2560x1600, that motherboard does not.

Alright thx. I sorta figured it'd be capped at 1920x1200. The system is eventually not gonna use the 2560x1600 monitor, so fortunately it doesn't affect anything.

Didnt get anything out of "list modes"-thingy. So I'm still at 1280x800.
