I restarted my PC when it was installing updates due that it was stuck on a loop of "we're getting ready" (something like that) message before going to the main desktop. Because of that, when I boot, the desktop is all black, the pointer didn't showed up, until I scrolled the tool bar, but it showed up as busy. After 2-3 minutes, it starts flashing grey color every 2 seconds. Is there a way to fix it?

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0
Processor is AMD FX-8320E
Have G. Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 (2 x 8Gb) as RAM
And a MSI Radeon RX 480 GPU

So SSD is boot drive now?

As you have everything off hdd, you can use diskpart/clean to wipe the hdd contents and use it as a storage drive

with both drives attached. from desktop, go to settings/update & security/recovery
under advanced startup, click restart now button
this menu should look familar
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type diskpart and press enter
type list disk and press enter
this shows all drives available, DVD/USB and hdd, make note of hdd number
type Select disk X - where X is the number of the hdd you want to wipe, change X to that number and press enter
once the drive you want to wipe is chosen, type Clean and press enter.

careful not to wipe ssd.
About only way to fix it is a clean install. We can try a few things first

from desktop, open the power menu
while holding shift, click restart
this will restart PC in windows recovery

Try system restore
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose system restore
pick a date before the updates and see if PC can roll back to a time before the accident, this might fix it.

Safe mode
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose start up options
click the restart button
choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
Pc will restart and load safe mode

does it do it here? if it doesn't, backup anything on PC you want to save.

if safe mode doesn't work, . try this to back up data:

Copy data
Is safe mode didn't work above, try this once you dl installer below:
change boot order so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer (see link below)
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type notepad and press enter
in notepad, select file>open
Use file explorer to copy any files you need to save to USB or hdd

Now you can try a reset, this will roll system back to latest version and you will lose all installed applications but if you choose "Keep files and settings" it will save:
  • Files = library folders. Library folders = Documents, pictures, movies, music (the default folders that come with windows;
  • Settings = logins and desktop
choose troubleshoot
choose reset this PC
Choose keep files and settings
PC will restart and reinstall Windows 10. Resets only touch C drive so if you have multiple drives, the other ones will be ignored.

If reset doesn't work, you will need to do a clean install

Once you backed up everything...

Clean Install
on another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB
change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html
when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished

we're getting ready"

looking at that, I suspect you restarted during a version update and about only thing that will work above is going to be the Fresh install. Version updates are essentially fresh installs of Windows so even the reset may not work. They are the worse type of update to mess with. You break windows that way.

You should be able to save data using notepad method but windows is messed up.

It didn't worked out. It ask me for administrator permission (even that I'm it) and it couldn't repair. My second option would be use my SSD as OS and the HDD as the secondary (where all the installation programs go). But I want to transfer all my drivers from the HDD to the SSD, since it doesn't recognize my GPU. It's possible to do that?

were you able to use notepad to copy info off? if you boot off the USB it won't ask for admin password if all you doing is using cmd

What drive is/was windows on?

you can't just copy drivers from one install to another.

Only way to fix windows from here is a fresh install. Choose which drive you want to use, remove other while installing, and follow my instructions above. Once windows on PC we can worry about GPU drivers.

I manage to get everything out from my hard drive. So, it's possible to "clean" it and use it as a secondary hard drive, or do I have to reset the windows 10 from my SSD too so both can work together?

So SSD is boot drive now?

It worked, thank you! I also re-installed windows on my SSD and used the disk management to set my HDD and install my programs there. One last question: If I install a MSI X470 Gaming Plus MoBo (AM4) do I have to re-install windows on my SSD?
