Restarting this thread - New graphics card not registering

So I started this thread around a week ago and it went dead before I got an answer. If someone could just tell me whether or not buying the PSU I linked to at the bottom of the page has a decent chance of fixing my problem, that would be great.

Hi, I recently got an old custom PC and wanted to put a graphics card into it. I bought a Sapphire AMD Radeon HD7950 and plugged it into the motherboard PCI-e x16 slot. I found it wouldn't register and realised that I had to plug it into the psu. There was only 2 molex connectors and I couldn't plug in my graphics card as it needs 2 6-pin connectors. I bought some spare molex-6pin connectors and plugged in my card. I then found it still didn't register and if I plugged the monitor into the graphics card it wouldnt work. The card didn't show up in device manager or the AMD autodidact software. Despite this, the light on the graphics card was on and the fans running. What is going on?

Here are my tech specs:
500W Besta PSU
H61H2-M12 motherboard
Intel celeron g540 CPU
Intel(R) HD graphics family (I think this is the integrated graphics card)

Adapters (sometimes) don't work as well as advertised. Consider changing your PSU to a well known brand.

How high would my wattage need to be?

make sure the mb has the newest bios on it to rule out a bios bug. a good 550w/600w unit would work.
make sure intel chipset drivers are installed.

The bios on my mobo is an AMI Aptio (with an american megatrends bios). Do I need to update this or what? Also, before buying a new psu, should I check the number of molex connectors? I only have two in the current one and I noticed most molex-6pin connectors use 2 molex for each 6 pin. This would mean I would need 4 molex, correct?

is this your mb with rev 1.0 on the mb??

That's my motherboard, but it has V 1.0, not rev 1.0

in the main bios windows does it show the bios rev??

I can't find it in the bios but during startup under the "American Megatrends logo" I read "Version 2.11.1210" before it disappeared, when it comes up with the keyboard shortcuts to go into bios.

Thanks for that, disappointed I couldn't be super stingy, but if my GPU works once my new G2 arrives I will pick yours as the solution.
