preconfig.. ACER~ I'm not set up to build but am still considering. But still consider or compare cost.
I use the pc picker list that was posted for me all the time to compare etc....
I know getting one that is already built they use cheaper parts as much as they can. But would like some input on these please.. I have come across these @Costco.. Again. They have all specs I want. The higher $ one. Other would want to upgrade too.. So ..please give me your thoughts...
Better $ before when I posted. None really on any great sales.. But am ready to throw my current 1 out window & driver over it! AMD 4 gb ram 300 HD, I installed win 7 ultimate & total 6 gb ram which most often doesn't recognize or act.. Like riding a lawn mower in sound..

Here is an impressive one.. please look at links...

Revised: PT2

Am really needing to get a new PC tower/CPU. Already made maybe at Costco? I can upgrade RAM..
Here are some specs that I'm looking at.. What are your thoughts? I saw this one & was getting it, then saw sold out online bummer! I'm a photographer & need to run 2 to 3 edit programs & internet uploading, mail app, Photoshop, Light Room, Elements, so need a pc to handle this and more. Which one looks better & what do I need in order of importance? I know 32 GB RAM, & 256GB SSD min.. Plus I-7. 2 to 4 GB Graphics Nividia ETC... Am I in the ball park with pc's below?

So you would probably be happy somewhere in the +/- $1500 range.

I've got an i7-4790K@4.8 on an Asus Hero VII with 32GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD with a 780 Ti hooked up
to three screens, one being my 2560x1600 IPS 30". Currently 30 tabs in my browser, a linux VM where
I am collecting open video editing software and doing research in another dozen tabs, StarCraft, Skype,
VLC standing by with Snagit and Notepad ++ with 20 documents backing up my research snaps,
snaps and clips. I find big RAM makes for less concern about what's running. I can run Picasa, Aftershot,
Paint.net and fire up Poser (3D) and Comic Life with no effort as well.

If I was doing new right now I'd opt for the Skylake option with the new Z170 MB and the little...
Yes I am. It's hard to just buy a desktop for that much.. It's been ALONGGGG time since I watched someone build a pc.
What would you recommend? I heard ASUS MB rated high...
🙂

If I was doing new right now I'd opt for the Skylake option with the new Z170 MB and the little
improvements it has over the fourth generation. Having said that by the time you need anything
more the next generation or the next after that will probably be here.

You could start with this and see how people react and what they can figure out as a better
deal for the same capability.

Watching two or three of the best youtube videos about building a box should suffice and there are links galore from these pages as well.

Surely a Xeon would be more beneficial with more threads, due to it not being a gaming machine the core clock doesn't need to be high at all and can sit fine below 3GHz.

Am thinking of convenience more than anything... Am not really set up to do a build. But am considering..
What are your thoughts of the last HP? Or

First you need a use case, check. [photographer & need to run 2 to 3 edit programs & internet uploading, mail app, Photoshop, Light Room, Elements]

Second you need a budget, if you buy a pre-assembled computer you're looking at a higher price for less horsepower and quality. Assembling a computer on the kitchen table is not rocket science nor does it usually need more than a multi-head screwdriver.

The build I recommended came right in the middle of your pre-builds but with more horsepower. Yes, DDR4 is new to match the Skylake 17 6700K. There are benefits to having a new generation motherboard as well.

When it comes down to a processor for your use case - fastest is best. Like big RAM. Like the fastest SSD. Like a really good screen. It lets you iterate faster and do more at once. The Xeon is slower and has the same number of threads.

In the end it all boils down to what you want to do, how fast you want to do it and what you want to spend.

Thank you! I started watching video(s).. Great help & yes can be very simple. May need advice along the way for specific brands/upgrade to a better piece etc.. Am concerned about drivers & loading the OS. Am sure video's will answer a lot.
My range is up to $1500 at the most if possible. I want something that will last, longevity.. I am not currently doing any shoots but have older work that I really need to get edited...... (due to medical issues), so have the time too do this & upgrade my camera equipment as well... Thank you so much for your patience & help 🙂
Yes, FAST is my goal. Being able to use the software without waiting forever for it to do something! HA ha

Am wondering, can my external drive (4 TB) Seagate be used instead of internal? I noticed running it all the time is not good, it seems to get real warm. No on/off switch just USB plug....Then again I got it few yrs ago for just another back up drive..

? Is this worth the extra $100????

Hi Fport~
I didn't realize that this was pretty much time sensitive :-( The processor went up to $669? Holy SHit!) I have never bought one to put together. I had saw went up to high $300's was going to get till today saw$ I screwed up. When are the best times to buy parts? Obviously, before thanksgiving. Right before. Then go from there. ?
