I'm not sure about nvidia cards. I'm an ATi user, but I don't think they're that bad. (well...)

Anyways, removing the battery gave me an idea. Remove the CMOS battery, and see what happens. Clear the BIOS, or whatever. This should have it default to fail-safe.

Also, there is a switch somewhere inside that detects if the LCD Screen is closed or open. Make sure the switch corresponds to the proper positioning of the LCD. It might be mistakenly thinking that the laptop is closed, when it is in fact not. That would explain a lot of things.

Cheers.
can you go into the BIOS? Is the laptop unexplainably hot when it boots?

Did you put too much or too little thermal paste? Is it metal-based, and is it bleeding, possibly shorting a circuit on the main board?

Is the fan itself good?

fan is good paste is the correct one cannot get screen on at al,l as soon as i press on fan runs for 3-4 seconds then goes off on light stays on but hard drive goes off too with the fan. i followed instructions to the t on re applying the paste and have done it many times b4 on xboxes im completley out of ideas but inspection of the motherboard is spotless looks new inside capacitor is in perfect form too voltages look fine it gotta be software or the cpu itself i think thanks for your reply and thanks for any help

tryed both wire and batt, power seems fine the hd initializes the cut off just after the fan hd dont make much noise tho but even if hd was nakard the screen should still come on??

Hmmm, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry 🙁

It could either be a motherboard or power problem. I don't see it being the CPU, RAM, etc.

Try taking it apart and reseating everything, that might help. Other than that, I don't know what I can say. Let's hope this can attract some attention... :|

ummm if you get no post its pointless replacing the thermal paste and/or cleaning the cooling - those are important for actual workload, there not required to atleast get a picture to the screen believe it or not.

If it was doing a bios update its toast

If its got nvidia video, id instantly blame that too - garbage.

Last things - remove the battery and leave it out for a good minute (while unplugged) - then plug in the AC and try again.

Otherwise time for a new one.
