Greetings All,

Boy am I just full of question......

Just found a Rod of Frost Bolts, found out what it was by trying it,
when I fired it at the wall the inventory auto-shuffled and the ID on
it said "Rod of Frost Bolts (charging).

There was no charge # after a while, (don't know how many turns was
clearing out a vault on dlvd 8) when I checked again the "charging"
message was gone.

Um...what is going on with this thing?

Thanks in advance for everyone's advice and help!

Rods have no charge numbers like staffs or wand. The can be used
unlilmited. After using they need some time to recharge before next
use. Recharging time depends on kind of rod. (More powerful rods need
longer to recharge - same as with 'A'ctivation of artifacts.)

Reshuffling of the inventory is normal game behaviour.

Rod is a bit like a wand/staff with one charge. Difference is that
it recharges by itself in some time. Zap it, wait until recharged,
zap it, wait... it can be used infinitely.

Infinitely? What about this "second law of thermodynamics" I keep
hearing about? Even using all the available energy in the universe until
heat death you'll only squeeze out around 10^123 cpu cycles in an ideal,
maximally efficient computer, which may be enough if you're running
angband on this thing to zap the rod zillions of times -- but
infinitely? I think not. :) (But it's better than using said computer
just to come up with the number 42...)
