Question Roll back Windows 8.1 to Windows 7.

Hi,
I upgraded win7 to win8.1 on my spare laptop but the start screen is horrid. I want to go back to windows 7 but there is no roll back option in settings.

Why you want to go back to an obsolete OS aside you can only do what you ask via a clean install (partition, format, install).

How, specifically, did you 'upgrade'?

And going back and forth between 2 obsolete OS's....Why?

OP, this might work without a reinstall. I'd recommend cloning your system drive or at least C: partition just in case.

Familiar workflow, desktop-optimized UI, compatibility with older programs and games, lower RAM+CPU footprint, less telemetry (spyware) etc.

The only downside to Win 7 I can think of is that you need 3rd party software to get system updates since 2020.

Same here. System doesn't have a "roll back" point so full wipe and reinstall is the only option. Anything else is dodgy at best.

To OP: StarDock' app is $5, don't know whether you can get the Win8 version.
