Equipment: ATT DSL service. ATT branded Netgear 6200 DSL Modem (6 months old) running in bridge mode. Netgear 6220 Router (4 months old). Router set to use Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4). Desktop computer, Verizon Cell Network Extender and Xbox hard-connected to router. Cellphones, Roku, and many other devices wireless connected to router. All worked fine until 1 week ago. No changes to equipment.

Problem. All of a sudden nothing connects to internet. When I try ping from desktop it resolves lookup and then times out on all 4 tries. Talked to AT&T about connection. They had me take modem out of loop and reset modem to eliminate bridge mode. Their tests show no problem with line or modem. I have used modem for some time without problem. When I then put modem back to bridge mode and used router to initiate service - same problem exists. I tried changing DNS entries since it seems to not get past DNS name resolution. No help.

I figured bad router - bought new router (also Netgear). Problem remains. Talked to Netgear service - tried a number of things and ended up changing DNS entries back to Google - now it works. Router back and all other devices could access router. Life was good. One week later problem is back. Tried same process (modem to non bridge mode, worked fine, modem back to bridge mode, bought new non Netgear router. Same problem Now I have tried three routers from two companies - don't think it is a router issue.

Went back to original Netgear router. Changed DNS entries to OpenDSN server (208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220) and router now works. Lasted 12 hours and now same problem.

My next thought is that somehow the modem works fine in regular mode but is failing in bridge mode. Does this make any sense? I have good line and tried three routers. Running out of problem areas.

I am typing this forum posting with modem set to regular mode and router out of system. I can change back to bridge mode to try anything members suggest.

I am usually pretty good with this stuff but this one is driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance for any help.
