Hi, I'm a newbie here, and what I know about networking you can probably copy on a matchbook
That said, here's my problem:
I've got two wireless routers - D-Link DI-524 and Airlink AR325W. Until last week, I was using the Airlink router believing my DI was dead (I wasn't able to connect to the net anyway on it) The Airlink router was working perfectly, holding my local IP to a 192.168 address, and I could get the web-admin on 192.168.0.1.
Because of a botched firmware upgrade, I had to reset it. The net stopped working.
Just for the heck of it, I tried using the 'dead' DI router - and the same thing. No internet. But it was working , though no 192 IP address.
Please note that at this point, I am getting a 169.254 address from my routers. At this time, the modem from my ISP is connected to the WAN port on the router.
After some permutations/combinations, I managed to retrieve the internet access by connecting the modem to one of the LAN ports (1,2,3 or 4) instead of the WAN port. The result is that while I can see my ISP's address (202.xxx.xxx.xxx), I cannot detect either of my routers.
Before you ask, no, I connect only ONE of the routers at a time between my PC (3/4) and the modem (2). Numbers in brackets indicate LAN port on router that it is connected to.
How do I retrieve my router settings? I need to set up wireless connections for my laptop, hence the necessity of accessing the router web admin.
Please help...
