Router took connection away from desktop?

i dont understand what happened. ive had my netgear router connected to the modem for a few months now. everything worked fine, the desktop AND the laptop got connection. but all of a sudden, the desktop barely gets connection. now this dont make any sense because the modem is plugged into the desktop. how come it barely has a connection? and the laptop has excellent connection? can anyone please help me?! this is getting really frustrating.

Do you mean that you have tried bypassing the router and plugging desktop directly to modem and still there's a problem ? If so, suggests router is not the issue but rather the desktop.

It might help if you said exactly what is plugged in to what: viz

Modem is connected to phone socket -> router is connected to modem -> DTPC is connected to router etc

Are you talking all cables or wireless? What model of router, what make of modem etc?
