Hello, looking for someone to make up my mind for me since I've been doing research now for nearly a week and have gotten nowhere...
At first I was sold on getting a monitor with a fast refresh rate, most likely the ASUS VG248QE. However, I then realized I won't be playing any online FPS and started to reconsider.
I am a heavy gamer but mostly RPG's and a few strategy games. I will play some FPS campaigns but not too worried about refresh rate for those. I will also be using this monitor a lot for internet browsing as well as word processing which is why I have now started to lean towards an IPS panel.
Yes I can push above 60FPS in most games, here is my build if it helps:
4670k 3.4ghz
gtx 760
gigabyte ud3h
corsair pro 8gb 1866
i have a cpu cooler installed so can overclock too but havent yet
so basically my question is.... does the higher refresh rate (mostly for RPG/RTS games) outweigh the colour/clarity of an IPS monitor both during playing these games, and for other computer tasks?
thanks!

It's not irrelevant at all. But even for a 12ms monitor, you will still see your troops move smoothly. The response time and refresh rate are different. Response time is when you click your troops to move from one place to another, I doubt you'll notice a 12ms difference. Refresh rate: 60hz, is going to be the max FPS you'll have. So for example you play sc2 and put all settings to low and res to x800 only, the fps would go beyond 60 for sure. But if your monitor is only a 60hz, the max FPS you'll get is only 60fps. If you go beyond that, you'll get screen tearing. And I STRONGLY believe, for RTS, 60fps is very very very! smooth.
