Rtx 2080 not detected

I just got my new 2080 and put it in... upon swapping out my old 970 for this one I noticed the screen got blurry. I checked the resolution and i was in 760p (my native is 1440p) so i tried to change it. It would only let me slelect up to 1080p. So i was confused. I tried to go to nvidia control panel but it said “no nvidia gpu detected”. I launched a program i use to check my computer temp and it didnt register my graphics card. The weird part abouy all this is that i have a display port plugged into my monitor from the graphics card, so my monitor is connected to it and working, but not as its supposed to be.

Yes it is plugged into my motherboard and powersupply. The fans on the 2080 are also apinning and the 2080’s led lights are lit.

Any ideas what i should do?

Specs:
Cpu: i7 4790k
Gpu: rtx 2080
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Pc Mate
Psu: 850w EVGA G3 Supernova

Is there something other than the gameready drivers im supposed to download? I already downloaded the game ready drivers

Nope , game ready drivers is all that is needed.

Did you use DDU before removing old card to remove the current driver and then install current driver after card swap?

I got it working. I had to remove my old drivers before reinstalling the game ready drivers.

DDU: stands for display driver uninstaller for anyone that is new
