I got the same trouble with my 2080ti .
When playing game both my screens freeze with alot of pink\white dots. I try to reboot and install fresh drivers, NOTHING work!

This is a HARDWARE issue. !!

I got the exact problem years ago with another card, the issue is BAD RAM memory that is displaying the "pre image" before it`s proccesed, that is why you see the DOTS on the screen.

I want a new card asap! 🙁

Back again, so Nivida are going to send out a third card and before it gets here, I was just wondering if there is anything at all in my computer that could be damaging the GPU.

My specs are:
Z170 Pro Gaming MB
EVGA SuperNova 1200w PSU
I7 6700 CPU
16Gb DDR4 4200Mhz Ram

Is it possible for any of these components to damage the card in any way because this s the third card now and I don't want it to do the same?

This is a Faulty RAM Issue (DDR6 maybe) .. it has nothing to do with your computer.

I've followed this thread here and there and sorry if this was mentioned already, but did you use DDU to uninstall the gpu drivers and start fresh? Here's a post from 2015 from someone with exact same problem with a R9 290:

https://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/762801-R9-290-Crossfire-Artifacts

They said it was fixed with a bios reflash on his cards (they had 2 of them). Hmmm, maybe your pc thinks there are 2 cards installed?

I would try DDU. Follow the instructions exactly. I had problems wiht my 2080 ti crashing and it's a bit early to say, but I think it has cleared it up.

Or a BIOS problem (edit: GPU bios to be exact), as the the person with the AMD cards claims. His card, even though it's not an nVidia card, had the exact same style of artifact on screen. Looks like little Space Invaders. I think it's ASCII character 234, the Omega symbol. It's certainly a strange coincidence, considering the other person has AMD cards. The only common element I can think of at the moment is that both systems are Windows based.

Also, now that I'm thinking about this some more, it's worth noting that there appears to be more than one kind of crash being reported on this thread. My comments were aimed at the OP, clyde, which I believe resolved his problem with a driver reinstall but is getting a replacement card anyway? His is the one with the Omega symbol artifacts on screen. One other person reported the exact same kind of crash, and I found a thread from 2015 where someone with AMD cards had the exact same Omega artifacts.

My experience with my 2080 ti has been 2 different games crashing and a separate problem on two occasions where after powering on my pc my tv would remain black until I unplugged and then replugged the hdmi cable. When I first got the card, I made the mistake of just putting the new one in without uninstalling drivers. The old card was also an nVidia card and I didn't think it would matter. It was a GTX 970. Actually now that I think about it, I had a couple of blue screen crashes, too.

The first game to crash while playing was Subnautica, which is a great game but is a bit buggy to begin with because it is an Indy title. The OS froze and I had to force a hard restart of the computer. I actually turned down the settings from 4k to 1440p and graphics level to medium because this game is so poorly optimized that high settings and high res were breaking the 2080 ti's back FPS wise (sometimes below 30 fps).

The other game was Far Cry Primal. It crashed once in a cut scene and once at an achievement, but all I had to do was a three finger salute to log out of Windows and log back in again. I tried to get to task manager and I could see it to select it, but it wouldn't switch to it - just kept reverting to a blank screen.

I used DDU to uninstall drivers while disconnected from internet and while in safe mode as recommended and after reinstalling the drivers I played an hour or so of Far Cry Primal and no crashes yet, but this card is still under careful watch because as much as I like it there have been some bumps in the road. Mine is a Gigabyte RTX 2080 ti OC Gaming with the updated bios installed.

I spent some brief time in Sniper Elite 4 and Ghost Recon Wildlands without issue, although ultra settings on GRW is a bit of a strain for a 2080 ti if you can believe it. Some time was also spent in ME:Shadow of War without any problems. I spent a good deal of time in Far Cry 4 and I don't recall any problems there. These games seem to be coded better and hopefully my problems were driver related. I hope some of this info helps.

Hi there, I have also had issues with my 2080ti and it bricked completely.
First started with omega artifacts and snowing, constant blue screens or lock ups.
I rebuilt my computer and used a fresh install of windows and then installed the latest Nvidia drivers, then what happened was I would get a black screen once the drivers installed and I was unable to have any display appearing.
I had to use system restore to go back before the driver install so I can at get a display appearing.
I went into device manager and it appeared in the list to be an unknown PCI device, it appears the card was no longer recognized and any Nvidia driver install would give me a black screen.
I decided to pull the card out and test it on another computer, exact same issue on there too.
The card is definitely faulty, so I contacted Nvidia to RMA the card. They are going to send me a new card sometime this week.
I believe they rushed the release of the cards and there is a faulty batch. Your system does not show any reason why it would not allow the card to work properly.
I feel for you as I also had two delays from Nvidia sending the original pre ordered card and for my card to arrive DOA.
I believe the faulty cards have a power issue which is causing the problems.
Best to get a new card from Nvidia and make them aware of any issues you are experiencing.
As soon as I reinstalled my 980ti my system has been working flawlessly.

Good luck, and please keep us up to date on your RMA and see if the new card fixes the issues you are experiencing.

UPDATE. Received my EVGA 2080Ti RMA today. So far so good. I have not experienced any artifacts etc. It's only day one. I will update after a week of using this if it has no problems! Keeping fingers crossed. Only thing I didnt like was when I unpackaged it. The 2080ti wasnt spotless. Its still clean but looking around it looked like it was packaged fairly quickly or something. I could just be anal... but so far it works.

Mine is running smoothly now with no crashes after 4 hrs gaming. I believe DDU fixed it for me. Can’t rule out a temperature problem because I also set a thermal limit of 70c out of caution because my home recently reached up to 26c (79F). I’m feeling more comfortable now to remove the limit soon and will see if it remains stable. The GPU never really got higher than 75c anyway, so I think it’ be ok. I’m fairly certain I had the problems because I didn’t uninstall the GTX 970 driver first.

Nvidia told me via chat and email that I'm getting an RMA just over 4 business days ago and nothing since (no tracking number or return label). Is this normal? Getting frustrated now...

I RMA from EVGA so the guy told me where I can find my tracking number. It did take 4 business days for me. Im on Day 3 of my RMA and my card is working flawlessly. Only d/c I get is from servers but not artifacts so far!

Well my Founders Edition 2080ti is trash. It worked nice for less than 24 hours of ownership.

Yesterday I made a 200 mile round trip to a Best Buy store that actually had one in stock. I get home and do a card swap. All seems very well. I'm able to play all my games(except AC: Odyssey but that's a given) all 4k Ultra 60fps.

This morning I get up and play some games for a bit and all is great(minus CAM software acting up).I go and do some family stuff with the wife and kid and come home to play for a bit. I fire up BF1 and I get a crash and error that the "card has been physically removed from system". That's strange, it worked fine a few hours ago. I try Odyssey and it loads and has all sort of graphical glitches and locks up.

I checked my wiring, reinstalled drivers and the same. I reinstalled my EVGA 1080 SC and it's working as it should.

Now I get to return this POS tomorrow and wait for the EVGA version to get in stock. The bummer part is a used a 10% off coupon that expires in a few days. Hopefully they get something in stock soon.

Update my RMA is still continuing to work flawlessly, but driving home I did read this article too! It sucks that we shells out so much money just to get a defective product. Really discouraging because this was the first time I went for a pre-order on a video card. Maybe the next huge upgrade I'll wait. I dont want to be a guinea pig

I talked with Nvidia tech support last night. They said they'd submit the request for RMA. I read that article and thought I don't want to be stuck with a card that fails all the time. I decided to take my card back to Best Buy for a full return. On my way to the store I get an email stating my RMA was accepted and a new card will be shipped to my address. That's all cool I guess but I have to send my old card back to Nvidia. I gotta ask Best Buy if it's still possible to return. If not I'm gonna just send the replacement card back.

Also, may I ask what temps everyone was getting on their cards?

Still nothing 8 days after Nvidia support told me my card will be RMA-ed. No replacement card, no shipping label for the broken card return. Very frustrated with this experience.

My temps were around 70-75c with fans at 90 in game. I got an email today from nvidia saying my card should ship sometime this week. It took them about 2 weeks to contact me after I sent it to them. I am hoping they knew there was a problem and the reason it took so long is because they were fixing the actual issue. Might be wishful thinking but we shall see. I will update once I get it back.

3rd Replacement Card just showed up, just testing it out for the next couple of days hopefully, it works. Also some extra information about the degrading problem over time, apparently the degrading problem was because of the DDR6 slowly burning out because of the temps (This only happened in some batches of the card).

UPDATE: 3rd Card broken on a different PC this time, have asked for a full refund. Try next year maybe. (Note: they gave me refund)

Hi guys,
Recently I've been having problems with graphic artifacts that look like space invaders, "crabs", "omega symbol" or whatever else you name it, followed by a blue screen (BSOD). Most places deemed it to be a faulty GPU.
I came from work today and did a DDU. Uninstalled the graphic card drivers completely and entirely, all on windows safe mode and offline, and reinstalled the driver, this time to the updated version. I had issues in the past that looked very much like physical issues, but turned to be the recent driver. Then I did all the following:

The actual artifacts (it happened inside of The Witcher too) - https://imgur.com/a/phOWgBV
Temperature charts during Battlefield V playing (green GPU / red CPU) - https://imgur.com/a/xPhp0tE
Firestorm screenshot (firestorm is ZOTAC's proprietary software - the GPU CLOCK value varies as it's used) - https://imgur.com/a/cL89UqB

3DMark - Time Spy https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/30922130?
3DMark - Time Spy Extreme https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/30922704
3DMark - Ran Time Spy Stress Test
Freestone Group Video Card Stability Test during 1h

During all these, no artifacts.

Then I did some playing sessions:

2 hours on The Witcher 3. I set it to 4k, everything on and on max.
Average FPS: 40-70
Temperature: 55-65

1 hour on Battlefield V. I set it to 4k, everything on and on max.
Average FPS: 40-60
Temperature: 60-65

0.5 hour on Doom. I set it to 4k, everything on and on max.
Average FPS: 120-150
Temperature: 55-65

1 match on DOTA2. 1920x1080.
Average FPS: 144
Temperature: 45-55

Below are the specs:
i7 8700k
ZOTAC GeForce 2080 RTX TI AMP
32gb ram
Motherboard msi z370-a pro
PSU ThermalTake ToughPower 750W

During the Witcher and Battlefield, sometimes the screen would "bump", it would freeze for a fraction of second and continue normally.
I couldn't find any solid tester for the GPU memory, but they're GDDR6 Micron, known to be a cheap component.

I can return it to the seller and ask for a refund, or get a new one, or I can risk going with this one and have an RMA (which is never a pleasant thing).

Share your experiences and thoughts on this people?
(Good luck for all of you with the artifacts issue)

Update* My second rtx 2080ti has been fine for a month everything running almost perfect however I notice that in games I get bad freezes and then big frame drops every couple of minutes. Is that a driver issue? My i7 8700k sometimes hits 100 percent usage could it be a bottleneck even though its a fast cpu?
