You will be confusing Mr QS Computing now so I'll return us to something
vaguely resembling sanity with Hammersmith - reserving most of my tokens
for a re-raise at a later stage.

You could be confusing QS Computing youself now. We're all expereinced
enough to know which Hammersmith you mean, but novices will be left
wondering if it's the District and Piccadilly Lines station, the
Hammersmith & City Line station or even the bus station!

Anyway, to make things a bit easier for QS Computing and the other
learners, here's a nice simple move:

Rotherhithe

Not the wisest of options from a purely tactical standpoint, but very
helpful for a demonstration game.

You are quite right! Things don't come a lot simpler than Rotherhithe,
except that M(r)(s) Computing might like to consider a similar move in the
SW Quadrant which would be useful when doubling. It's obvious, isn't it? Yes
.. . . Gunnersbury! Or did you make the novice's howler and think "Kew
Gardens"? 🙂 Don't worry if you did; it's a classic example of lateral
thinking, which is definitely not what MC is all about!

Alright, we've covered all the basics quite fully now, so how about Nipp?
Anyone want to take it on? I play:-

Bank

(Pretend I made a shunt - this is only a demonstration game after all!)

Hmmmmm

In demonstration games you have to demonstrate something. Now had you
said "Chalk Farm", and explained that this guarantees a win in any game
with an odd number of players; or "Cutty Sark" which gives a win in 4
moves in the 2 person game; That would be a suitable demonstration.
Alternatively, you could have shown how new stations alter the rules.
For example, Terminal 5 will neutralise the Smetherthwaite Gambit, while
the proposed Olympic line will finally eliminate the Dollis Hill Loop.

Nevertheless, As you propose the shunt move to Bank, I'll reply with
the only diagonal available:

Chalk Farm

Bad luck, Chris. Unless we allow the Key Stage Three Dispensation (which, to
date, we have never done here!) then "Mornington Cresent" puts you straight
back at Earls Court with, of course, the Piccadilly Line sequestered! As to
which rule set . . . I thought it was obvious!
