I am trying to find the best card I can run for $200 or less. I originally was looking at the evga gtx 1050 ti sc but im leaning towards the xfx rx 470 now. I just want to make sure I will be able to run it on my build. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Specs

Asus p7p55d-e MB
I5 650 3.2 (not sure what gen but I think it's a old one.)
Gemini II cooler
4g ddr3(looking to upgrade any suggestions would be appreciated)
450w diablotek power supply
120g SSD
Win7 home premium

Is the rx470 compatible with my pci2.0 mother board and will my powersupply be able to handle the new card?

Thanks for your reply. How big of a bunp in performance would the 480 be to the 470? Also what would be a good pick for ram. In terms of gaming would there be a big enough benefit to go for 16g over 8 and what speed would be best if im not intending to overclock?

is around 20% better, if you can get one for 200$ it's perfect. 8GB is enough for most games right now, with 16gb you'll be even better and be ready for the future but won't notice a lot of differences unless you're doing a lot of things at the same a time. as for RAM speed, it really doesn't matter, just stick with a brand that has good warranty/features and you'll be fine (the differences in RAM speed is not really noticeble even between DDR4 and DDR3)

Hey 1rj2, thanks again for the reply. I will go for the rx 480. Does it matter much what version I get and do you think I will have a chance at running it with the power supply I have now or should I not risk it and upgrade my ps at same time. It would be nice if I didnt have to riggt now as funds aren't where I want them. Last question can I buy any compatible 8g stick of ram and add another later or could I run into compatibility issues?

You need to change your power supply first.

The difference between manufacterers is really just features and between the 4 and 8gb versions is you have a more memory to work with and a little more performence, but unlees you go playing on higher resolutions than 1080p you shouldn't notice a big difference.

You could run into compatibility issues if you use different sticks, also working with single sticks of say 8gb (to go to 16) will be a little slower than buying a kit of dual RAM (2x8gb sticks together) since they come prepared to work together and perform better. All in all you could go away with workin with a single 8gb stick for now
