Running a Z68xp-ud3 what video card can i upgrade to PCIeX16

Currently I have a GTX 580 DU2 card want to up grade. Not sure about 2.0 will a new card at 3.0
work well on my MB or should i change MB. Thanks this machine has served me well.

Yes, It depends on you budget. Your system will be fine to handle the 1080ti from psu perspective. As for upgrade goes. I think even a 1050 ti out performs the 580 card.

You may require a BIOS update but the newer GPU's should work on that platform.

pcie 2/3 are forward and backwards compatible.
Any card will work, and only the very strongest will show any difference in performance(perhaps 2%)

GTX580 is still a decent card.
Look to a GTX1070 class card or better for a significant boost.

I can't see where a bios update is necessary.
One should not update a motherboard bios without a good reason.
