I bought a OCZ Diesel 16gb flash drive and formatted it to FAT32 and put UBCD version 5 on it following these instructions:

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/install-and-boot-ultimate-boot-cd-ubcd-from-a-usb-device/

I have my motherboard set to boot from removable device first but it still won't boot to the boot CD.

OCZ says this drive supports booting, but they also say this drive supports ReadyBoost but my Vista Ultimate 64 won't use it.

Has anyone run UBCD from a USB (or this one in particular) and am I doing anything wrong? Thanks.

Taken from the Front Page of Ultimalte Boot CD's web site...

If you wish to try the experimental option of running UBCD from a USB memory stick, you will need to either burn the ISO file to a CD first, or extract the files within the ISO file to your hard disk using a suitable utility. Then, use tools볒usb볒usb.bat to write UBCD to your USB memory stick. Note that ubcd2usb.bat will format and erase your entire USB memory stick. Due to its experimental nature, some or all of the UBCD apps may not work even if your machine supports booting from a USB memory stick.

Yeah, I'd read that before. I was just assuming that if someone had went to the trouble to post a tutorial, then it obviously can work. Note that is says that the APPS may not work. It doesn't say anything about the machine not booting into the USB. I should at least see my machine asking me to boot into the USB, it acts as if it's not even there.

Do you know of something I can put on the USB to see if it will actually boot or not? Vista boot cd? Thanks.

i took me like a week to figure it out but its the easliy way i did it and it worked. i downloaded the UBCD and made it into an iso. then i downloaded super grub iso cd. then i downloaded ultra iso opened both files with it.copied the super grub to my desktop then i opened the ubcd iso with ultra iso.then i delete the folder that said syslinux and replaced it with the ones from the super grub iso. when to bootable tab in ultra iso then when to write bootable disk.plugged the usb in then let everthing copy and it worked. 🙂

Yes, or you can unrar the .iso image and then execute the "tools볒usb볒usb.bat"
