Dude, no sh!t. The ultra is a dinosaur, I would sure hope that they can do better than that. That is setting some low standards on ATI's part if they launch a new generation that matches the ultra performances. :pfff:

I think the 3850x2 is just a short term product, just like 2900pro, it is only meant to get the rest of the rv670 chips sold before the launch of the hd4000 series

The 2900 Pro stayed around longer than I expected it to. The 2900XT is still at Newegg for $479:

I couldn't see anyone getting that when a 3870x2 is $419 to $429:

I think my MSI 3870x2 is okay. It doesn't overheat or anything. The fan's quiet. It just gives low 3DMark06 with the CPU I have. Yet, there's an open box at Newegg for $399. When I didn't have a PSU with an 8 pin connector and I contacted MSI to see if they had one, they said "return it". That sounded odd. I just got a new PSU and it's been running fine ever since.

Maybe I need to get a utility beyond CCC Overdrive or RivaTuner to take a look at it. What about ATI Tool?
