So I'm working on building a computer and I'm in the process of putting the list together. I haven't purchased anything. What I've got on the list so far:

CPU (i5-6500)
Motherboard (MSI Z170A SLI)
16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 Ram
600W EVGA B1 PSU
Corsair Spec-02 case

Peripherals:
Mouse + Keyboard + Headset
24" ViewSonic FreeSync monitor.

All of the above totals roughly $700.
I'm wanting to keep my budget under $1000, and I just need to decide on a GPU now.

I've had my heart set on the RX 480, but from what I've seen, they are either sold out everywhere or the prices are jacked up to $330+. Newegg seems to have reasonable prices under the $300 mark, but I'm not sure when they'll be in stock again.

So my question is this.
For maxed settings in games at 1080p, would the RX 470 be best? Or should I opt for a 970?

Or would it be better to play the waiting game for the RX 480?
