I'm building a PC and the graphics card I wanted to use is the rx 480, however it's hard to get ahold of one because they're always out of stock.

Eventually I might just go ahead and get a different GPU.

So my question is what graphics card would preform as well or better than the rx 480 and still be around the same price?

Solution
Your only options are the gtx 970 and the 390. There is also the 1060 that too has availability issues. Because the RX 480 and the 1060 are offering more than the previous gen i'd say wait for a month or two. I know it is difficult. I am in the exact same position. But at this point i wouldn't go with either the 390 or the 970.

Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 480 4GB - $219 and 8GB $269 For price and release date reference [http://www.anandtech.com/show/10511/sapphire-announces-...] And EVGA gtx 1060 sc $249. Price numbers are very similar.

But As Custom design Sapphire Nitro+ has a good LED glow and nice baceplate with two fans its can easy removable and fantastic design in my opinion. If you want a cool look inside your case then your choise must be Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 480 .

On the other hand EVGA gtx 1060 sc is a small size with single fan the design isn't good enough but its Power Consumption is just 120W and Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 need 150W.

if you want a quick tour to EVGA gtx 1060 sc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no_NBTivfgY
or Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 480 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTFDJODCSCc
