I own a i5 4440 cpu and I was about to get an rx 480 8gb because that's the best card you can get for it without any bottlenecking issues but the rx 580 just came out I know it's a rebrand but I also heard that it uses more advanced architecture. Will an rx 580 bottleneck an i5 4440?

Solution
Every game is different in what the CPU vs GPU relationship is. There's no specific GPU that will bottleneck that CPU for that reason.

The RX-580 is a good card, though you'd want to look at the price and see if the value is there. SIMILAR to a GTX1060 6GB.

Pros and cons with NVidia vs AMD of course. I have NVidia GTX1080 however for your budget the RX-580 8GB is really appealing as the GAME CONSOLES use the GCN architecture so it should hold up very well for many years as games become optimized for that GPU.

Things like Intrinsic Shaders etc are planned but these things take time. Change in game development is slow, but Vulkan/DX12 is going to really pick up over...

(NVidia can optimize too, but I think AMD has more potential to improve.)

There really aren't any proper "DX12" games out. They are all DX11 games with some code added, but to really benefit from the newer API games need to be significantly redesigned. VULKAN in Doom might be the only game that comes close to showing the excellent CPU scaling etc that this type of API can provide.

Your CPU should also be more efficient with a proper DX12/Vulkan title because they can reduce draw calls (need less CPU) and games should use closer to 100% of the total processing (all four threads). For example, let's say a game can only use 70% of your CPU now due to the main thread code, AND let's assume you save 20% due to improved code efficiency.

100/70/1.2 ... now you've got 40% more processing power than you had before!!

$225USD for RX-580 8GB looks like a good deal (no review for that exact card yet).

I like Asus Strix but not sure if they extra $50+ is worth it.
