[SOLVED] RX 580 Freezing

Lately, I have been having problems with my msi armor rx 580 card, the card is freezing permanently until I force reboot my system. It's doing this whenever I put it under any type of higher load.

These problems started when I decided to overclock the card multiple times with no success, with the system simply turning off the final time. I set the card back to the stock speeds, only to see it idling at 42 degrees, at which point I stupidly tried replacing the thermal paste with some arctic silver 5 (note that I got some paste between the resistors around the die, which I didn't think would be an issue.) Once I had realized that the card's 8 pin connector wouldn't support any significant overclocks, I went back to use as normal with varying temps but nothing absurd. And now, whenever I fire up a game, it freezes and crashes. Resetting Radeon WattMan settings to defaults sometimes helps, so I'm pretty sure it's a software issue, any ideas?

Solution
"While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths."

Try cleaning the mess which you as stated did on resistors.
Use isopropyl alchohol and tissue to clean it up (Or clean acetone, the standard one will work also).

Which PSU you have?
