Hello everyone,
In my country, I have the option to buy a ZOTAC Twin Edge GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 for 535 euros, or the XFX Radeon RX 9070 16GB Swift Triple Fan Gaming for 610 euros. These are the cheapest options for these two cards.
Which one would you recommend?

Two main things. 9070 has 16GB VRAM, so more time before it needs replaced. 12GB is good for now, but it won't be too long before games will ask for more. Slightly more power efficient at stock. But the other big thing is that you can often load the 9070 XT BIOS onto a 9070 card and unlock up to 300W of output, and then it certainly can outshine the 5070.

I would say 5070 if you are also wanting to use the card for some workstation solutions. CUDA is still the more accepted standard.

I was in this same situation in the USA recently. I could have gotten a 5070 for $605 US or the 9070 at the time was $669.

Personally I opted for a 9070xt that happened to be in stock for $699.

If you’re gaming, the reason I went for the 9070xt, though this applies to the 9070 also. When you look at videos on YouTube for example on the 5070 you see many times they’re already using 10-11gb vram. You’re paying that much for a gpu, but to me only putting 12gb of vram kind of shows that they want to get folks upgrading more often.

The other telltale sign is that there already rumors of a 5070 super with 18gb vram. If that’s true then sounds like the 9070 was a little too good and that nvidia may know they need a better gpu in that space.

If you’re doing production work the nvidia card may be a better option, but for gaming I think the 9070 is a better call if you’re going to keep the card a while.
