Verdict: it depends...
The specs of the new Ryzen 5 3600 are pretry impressive and will surely outperform a ryzen 3 1200 by a significant margin. How much remains a mystery, so id wait for 3rd party reviews and comparisons. The extra speed, ipc, and threads will surely help you out in newer titles.
Whether you can upgrade depends on motherboard. What motherboard do you have?
Also, whether it would be a worthy upgrade depends on the graphics card you will pair it with, resolution and refresh of your monitor, and desired settings in games. If you have a low end gpu, you may see little to no games in some titles.
I have a 1050ti but I want to upgrade that anyways, and as for heavily multi-threaded applications im guessing video editing counts as well as some light streaming and recording. If you are gaming, and have enough GPU/Monitor to utilize it, than that would be an enormous upgrade. If you are you using any type of heavily multithreaded applications for productivity it would also be an enormous upgrade.
Assuming the benchmarks look good when they come out, I'd say go for it you are going to upgrade the Mobo and GPU. What are you running for RAM?I have a 1050ti but I want to upgrade that anyways, and as for heavily multi-threaded applications im guessing video editing counts as well as some light streaming and recording.

I think I have my answer, I'm going to wait a bit, to see if prices go down a bit because Its quite expensive for me to upgrade all of those parts rn but I appreciate the much needed help my man!Assuming the benchmarks look good when they come out, I'd say go for it you are going to upgrade the Mobo and GPU. I'd be eying an upgrade there as well. The word is 3200 will be supported by default though I don't think this is official yet. Much higher RAM speed and improved compatibility are supposed to be achievable as well.16gb at 2666MHz
No prob. Good luck with the upgrades. Make sure you have a good PSU as well. Sounds like you might want to flip your whole build and start from scratch.I think I have my answer, I'm going to wait a bit, to see if prices go down a bit because Its quite expensive for me to upgrade all of those parts rn but I appreciate the much needed help my man!
