Question Ryzen 3 1200 vs 5 1500X with GTX 960

Hi! Currently I have an OC'd (3.8Ghz) Ryzen 3 1200 with a GTX 960. Would I benefit frame wise or graphics wise with a Ryzen 5 1500X?

I'm thinking your CPU is fast enough for the 960 and I don't see you getting that much with a CPU upgrade.

I think you could go a bit higher with the GPU.....but not a lot.....maybe something around a GTX 1060 or an RX 580.

With that GPU probably not. It is possible you would see better low framerates. Really the biggest difference would come in games that can handle multiple threads well and load the physics onto the extra CPU threads. You shouldn't see big performance gains if upgrade cpu. Better aim for newer gpu, that not bottlenecks your ryzen 3 too much.

I would not buy a fairly slow 4c/4t CPU just because my GPU was aging fast....

Jump straight to the R5-1600, on sale for as little as $79 in recent months...

(You won't be confined to the GTX960 forever, and, last thing you want is to upgrade CPUs and find it an almost worthless upgrade because of your GPU)
