ryzen 3 1200 vs ryzen 5 1400 for streaming

The 1200 and 1400 in Canada have about $70 difference in price and I am currently building my first ever pc (in my newegg cart) and am torn between them. I want to know, for my $800 budget, is it worth getting the 1400 to stream? or am i better off saving money on the 1200? Also both will be paired with either the RX 560 or 1050TI although it'll most likely be the 1050TI. thanks for your time!

The added cores/threads are almost always going to be beneficial for streaming.

FWIW, the Ryzen5 1400 and R5 2400G should be near identical in price (around $195) and would give you a higher base/boost clock than the 1400.
In addiition, would give you onboard graphics for any troubleshooting etc -- BUT, the motherboard may need a BIOS update to support i.t

so it is worth the extra $70? also the 2400g would put me EVEN more out of budget as (with the 1400 in cart) i am already $65 above my budget. I am considering switching the 1050ti to a 560 but am not sure.

I would say so, yes. The 6c/12t is going to be a much better option vs 4c/t if you want to do anything other than *just* game (ie even multi-task, depending on the title). While the full 6c/12t may not be utilized, depending on the streaming method used etc, it's certainly going to be utiliing >4c/t.

FWIW, I wouldn't suggest buying everything from one place (unless you're getting the assembly service, where you have to).

A Ryzen5 1400 is $197 on Amazon

A 2400G is $199
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/FGPKHx/amd-ryzen-5-2400g-36ghz-quad-core-processor-yd2400c5fbbox

That'll be true of other components too, it'll be cheaper overall to shop around. But make sure the motherboard is "Raven Ridge Ready".

As for the GPU, no, I wouldn't drop from a 1050TI to an RX560..... at least not unless the price difference was huge.
A 1050TI is, without a doubt, the stronger GPU.

A 1050TI should be available for <$250? I can only find the cutdown 896 RX560's available, and they're >$220. Not a chance.

you said that 4c/t is weaker than "6c/12t" but even the 2400g isnt 6 cores and 12 threads? its 4/8. Also the 560 is around $215 for a 4gb while the 1050ti is $285.

Sorry, disregard that, I meant 4/8, not 6/12 (I was thinking of the 1600).

Still thinking the same, 4/8 is going to be beneficial in streaming/multi-tasking vs 4/4.

As for the 560 vs 1050TI debate..... the 560 is probably the better "bang for your buck"... but the 1050TI is the stronger GPU.
You're looking at +30% based on those numbers
A 1050TI is about 40% "better" in relative performance. Doesn't necessarily mean +40% FPS etc, but it's a stronger card.

Same deal for shopping around though.

$250 for a 1050TI.

Still way over MSRP, which I think was around $200 CDN (vs $139 US), so not great..... but clearly $250 is a better price than $285. In this market, I wouldn't worry too much on the specific models, and just focus on the GPU itself.

alright so i guess i will go with the 2400g! thank you for your help since this is my first build and i did need some outside advice. I hope to buy it all soon and get to stream as well!

Remember, if opting for the 2400G, you'll need to make sure the BIOS is updated on any motherboard you buy.
Without the BIOS being updated, the rig won't be functional.

Can you post a link to the full spec you're considering? If you're prepared to shop around, there's likely better deals to be had.
Even if there's not better re: Price, there might be better options for the money.

Actually, scrap the 2400G idea. By the time you find a board, specifically updated to support the APUs, it's adding >$30 to the overall price.

I'd opt for the 1600 myself

Both assume you already have an HDD to use as bulk storage?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9rP3tg this is the permalink to my build. it says $577 but its completely wrong and im only comfortable with buying parts off trusted sites such as Newegg or Amazon (the canadian variants) which would make the price $878.74 exactly (at its cheapest). Im sure i will need to flash the newest bios for the 2400g which, as i understand, is difficult without another functioning cpu (which i dont have).

There are quite a few issues I see in that build though.
Specifically:
1. Board compatibility, see below.
2. Ryzen benefits substantially from greater DDR4 speeds (ideally 3000MHz+)
3. Running *only* a 5400rpm HDD is pretty slow. If you must go HDD only, at least aim for a 7200rpm drive
4. That PSU from EVGA is pretty poor quality. The only benefit to it, ever, is the price. At $50 or so, it's impossible to justify IMO. The CX450 (2017) I linked is $8 more, and substantially better quality.

All sites listed on PCPP are trusted and reliable, but if your preference is to NewEgg &/or Amazon, that's fine too - just appreciate you may not be netting the best price(s).

Yes, to support either the 2200G or 2400G, the chances are pretty high that you'll need to flash the BIOS (which is impossible without a functioning CPU).
You certainly CAN find boards that are already updated with a BIOS to support the APUs, but there's a clear markup when searching for those.
The cheapest I could find was $130 CDN.... so +$60 (approx) vs a board compatible wth the earlier Ryzen chips.

For that reason, I'd look to the Ryzen CPU's, opposed to APUs.

1. should I go for the 1400 or 1500x?
2. if you have the time could you put together a similar pc to the one i have put together but with better components for the budget of $800? i just want to see an outside view since i feel like im being stubborn with my specs.

UPDATE : here is exactly whats in my cart https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/PpMZfH
is there any way to price cut this down? (without massive performance drops)

1. 1400. With overclocking (which should be fine with the stock cooler/voltage), you'd net the same performance as the 1500X anyway. The 1500X is essentially just a pre-overclocked 1400.

2. I did, above. You quoted it

If you need to be under (or right at) $800 and don't have an HDD, i'd drop the SSD for a 7200rpm or hybrid drive

Now, that includes a couple of rebates... so your initial outlay would be around $830.

If you just needed the "buy it & done" price, there would need to be a couple of tweaks.

so the ASROCK ab350m wont make any difference from the msi gaming pro right?

Ive decided to go with the 1500x and 1050ti combo as i was researching and found a near FLAWLESS stream using those two together and even capable of playing PUBG. Thank you so much for your help although the 1500x will raise my price another $10 i will find a way to cut costs. THANK YOU, you were a great help!

The 1500X is a pre-overclocked 1400. You could achieve the same end-result with the 1400 and a little bit of time. The stock cooler is sufficient, and you probably won't even have to touch voltage.

i mean its only a $10 premium over the 1400 so if i really needed to i will swap them, but for now its there for the sake of saying its there.

Yeah, for $10 it's negligible, of course. But if you're working on a really tight budget, you'll net the same performance from the cheaper chip. Just a heads up on it, that's all. The "X" variants don't really make too much sense IMO - they don't offer any real benefit vs the "base" chip + overclocking. They're not even better binned, so the overclocking headroom on the X's will top out right around the same end-state as the non-X's.
