[SOLVED] Ryzen 3600 with AIO High Idle Temps

I have a brand new, Ryzen 3600 and Ryzen Master is reading 48c-56c on idle temps. I have a Corsair H115i Pro RGB though. Is this normal? I'm coming from an FX-9590 where the same cooler yielded 18c-25c.

MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC
16gb Trident Z RGB

500gb SSD

Have to disagree with Rodrox... Ryzen Balanced power plan should be left with minimum at 99%, same as installed when the chip set drivers were installed. 99% tells the Windows power management to step out of the way and let the Ryzen power management work. Ryzen works on much faster time scale to lower clocks faster than Windows can and far more frequently. Up to 100 times a second. Windows just doesn't work that fast or that often. That's also why you enable the advanced C states in BIOS, so the processor will drop into C6 deep sleep as often as possible.

PBO has effect with heavier loads by increasing the power and current limits. It doesn't make any sense to cause it to idle at higher temperature...
The FX idle temp readings were not accurate, AMD states anything above 40C on the FX cpu's are normally accurate, There is no way the FX9590 could idle at slightly above room temp or below room temp with that cooler, its just how it worked for them older chips, The Ryzen chips seem to be more accurate with their temp readings.

Nah, it idles lower and the cooler ran hotter. I know it's accurate, I have tested 2 other FX-8150s with other coolers. I'm more worried about my Ryzen temps. The architecture on FX CPU's is bigger too, which effects required cooling.

Ryzen is not a particularly hot chip.
I might have expected 10-15c. over ambient at idle.

Some possible reasons for extra high idle temperatures:
  1. Obstruction in the coolant lines or loss of coolant.
  2. Uneven installation of the pump.
  3. Inadequate airflow reaching the radiator.

After some research, I have found PBO may be a cause, but the Ryzen 3600 is pretty hot, in the sense that it usually idles at 40c on most builds. My pump always gets enough power, and runs usually at 2130rpm. I have reapplied thermal paste twice, and my temps now are constant 40c. Airflow is good, no change on setting the iCue fans to balanced (except idle down to 38c) I'm pretty sur e my temps are normal, and my load temps never go above 60c.

Finally: 48-56C isn't that hot for 3600's at idle. It's really right in line with 'normal'.

The Temp readings are inaccurate on FX up until around 40C - 45C, I've ran a FX8320 at 5.2ghz for 5 years, I also have 3 other FX systems, FX6300, FX 4350, FX8300, A CPU can not idle lower than room temp, its physically not possible, even in it's lowest power state available to it. So any readings below 40C on any FX cpu's, I'd take with a grain of salt, you can't compare, You can how ever get the socket temps as that is off the motherboard, Ryzen is a bit more accurate than FX ever was and even then its still got inaccuracy issues at lower temps due to how AMD gets its temps readings, its all estimated to keep it short.

Why would my 5.2ghz FX 8 core, idle around 15C on a water cooler when the TDP is around 290+watts, I keep the room at around 70F or 21C. Makes so sense for something to use energy yet run cooler than the air surrounding it.

As mentioned above, The temps is in its safe zone, idle temps really don't mean a whole lot as the cooler will lower its fan speeds or pump speeds during no load, So you could possible have a higher idle temp than a person with a different cooler but same CPU. My Ryzen 7 1700 system idles around 50c at 4.2ghz, though the air cooler the fans are only at 500rpm up until around 60c when it jumps to 1800rpm or more, Max temps with Aida64 is around 76c on that chip when the cooler speeds its fans to 2000+ rpm.
