Question Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 7 1700 for 2666 MHz RAM

Hello, I want to buy new CPU for gaming.
My system is :

• Ryzen 3 1200
• RX 580
• Gigabye A320M-DS2
• Crucial Ballistix 8 GB DDR4 2666 MHz RAM ( I will update 16 GB )

Should I buy Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 7 1700?
Ryzen 7 1700 RAM speed is 2666 MHz
Ryzen 5 2600 RAM speed is 2933 MHz

I will not change my RAM. Just buy a new CPU. I know Ryzen 5 2600 better for gaming. But 2666 MHz is a problem?
Usually I am playing CS:GO. But I also playing other new games.

The motherboard determines memory speed so you can use up to 3200mhz with that board, just enable AXMP or whatever it's called in the BIOS.

Don't look at YT vids, refer to your motherboard guide as if the memory is placed in the wrong slots then AXMP won't work.

Maybe, maybe not. RAM is not guaranteed to run any faster than what it's rated for, i.e. 2666 MHz. Sometimes you can get it to run faster, especially if you increase voltages, other times not so much.

Ryzen 5 2600 and Ryzen 7 1700 same price. Which should I go buy?

I'd snag the 1700, once overclocked the difference is pretty minimal however with the 1700 you'll get the extra 2 cores & 4 threads. I'm happy with my 2600 but I should of grabbed the 1700 as it was actually cheaper when I built my system but I suppose that doesn't matter as I'm looking at the 3rd Gen Ryzen 9 CPU's...

I would go with the Ryzen 5 2600. You get a newer generation processor which is bound to get better with updates, and it performs fantastic in Gaming. Atleast for me.
