[SOLVED] Ryzen 5 2600 vs i5-8400

I’m trying to decide between the 2600 or 8400. Both a great cpus and I’m pairing with a 2060. I did notice there seems to be a slight bottleneck with the 8400 in videos but I’m not sure. Which should I get? Mobo would either be z370 a pro or b350 plus. Thanks for the advice!!

2600 > 8400 as it has on par single core but doubled threads.
B450 is better so you don't need to worry about updating bios. Budget and country?

Agreed. If you're going with the Ryzen 2600, you'll want a B450 motherboard.

I’m in the US. I’m trying to keep it around $800. Build so far (outside of the parts I was talking abt) is focus g case, rtx 2060, evga g3 650w. I haven’t decided on ram yet as the i8 would probably only need 8 vs 16 with the ryzen

As far as I know at ~800 to 900 the build should be fine. All things considered the 2060 is $350 and all other expenses add up to srojnd $600

In that case just throw storage away and get RTX 2060.
