[SOLVED] Ryzen 5 3600xt + gtx 1080 + 16gb ram but not good fps for 240 hz

Hi, My name is Ahmad Raza. I've bought a gaming pc some months ago for Fortnite as a competitive point of view. my aim was to get 240 consistent fps on Fortnite because I saw videos where people with a setup like mine getting 240 consistent fps.
here is the setup:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600xt
GPU:Gtx 1080
RAM:16GB 2400mhz
Motherboard: ASROCK AB350 PRO4
SSD: Samsung SATA
SPU:700w

My issue is my fps don't stay on 240 it is laggy and not smooth at all. I have a 240hz Alienware monitor with and without Gsync nothing changes same issue not consistent 240 fps.I don't know what is wrong I want 240 consistent fps so it can help me play well in competitive Fortnite. On videos, I see people even get 300+ fps with my setup. I've tried Performance mode, DX11, DX12 but didn't get what I wanted. I want to know what is wrong I've wasted so much money on this and am now not happy at all please help. I've done too many tweaks and everything tried Default windows settings but no effect please tell me is there something wrong with my PC setup or what?

Can't really rely on other people's videos. They may give a baseline for what could be possible but circumstances surrounding the PC in the video, from software/drivers to hardware is almost always different.

For starters, memory speed can improve minimum fps. If memory specs is mentioned in comparison videos you've seen, they are most likely running higher than 2400.

I suggest looking towards getting a kit of 3200MHz ram, but make sure it's CL 14, as those use Samsung chips and is most successful running at 3200 on early gen boards.

Other differences can be Geforce driver, different versions, new or old, sometimes latest isn't always best. As newer cards are released, optimised drivers can sometimes degrade performance for older cards.

Motherboard, chipset drivers etc can also show performance variance. Along with Windows and gpu software optimisations, which most you've probably tried. Such as power plans in Windows and NvidiaCP. Windows Gamebar and fullscreen optimisation (found under compatibility for game's exe, disable to be in fullscreen instead of semi borderless) can have an effect.

Thank you for your Reply! I want to ask do you think ram speed will make that huge difference i do get 240 fps but they are not consistent fall to 150 or 190 i want smooth experiance.

Faster ram will help increase fps minimums but don't think you'll hit 240 all the time. Cpu sets the fps cap so unlikely to see constant 240 with 3600xt but yeah faster ram will help.
