1440p with 144 hrzWhat will be your resolution?
3080 is about what it takes for 4k gaming.
But at that resolution the processor is not so much the limiter as the gpu.
I would think that a 5600x would be as good as it gets for gaming.
If 5600x is hard to buy, you may find intel 11th gen to be equally good and more available.
sorry i fixed it i meant 5600xNormally anything with more than 4 cores is the minimum but this is also dependent on a couple factors:
A lot of games are single threaded optimized still so even 6 cores is more than enough. And then your monitor resolution will affect whether or not your gaming experience is CPU or GPU dependent. 1080p monitors are CPU dependent and your 3080 will be heavily underutilized (unless you have a 240Hz monitor) and a 1440p and above will use your GPU more.
- They types of games you play
- The resolution of your main monitor
EDIT: Your title says 3600X and your description says 5600X. Since they have the same amount of cores, my answer still applies, but you should clarify.

It's true each step up from the 5600X incrementally gets a few more FPS in certain games and sometimes they're tied. The 5600X will not quite keep up w/ the 5800X or above, but, exceeding the frame rates of pretty much all Intel CPUs is hardly being in a bad position....
5600x great cpu, one on top of my suggestion for buying cpu...I got 3600x, 1440 gaming, see no difference if I get 5600x, not enough to make me switchEither way, you will be fine. The CPU has plenty of cores and has modern tech.
Also, this cpu runs 65 watts, low electric bill5600x great cpu, one on top of my suggestion for buying cpu...I got 3600x, 1440 gaming, see no difference if I get 5600x, not enough to make me switch
