Hello, i have an Ryzen 7 5800x and my mobo is an gigabyte aorus elite b450, i was getting a lot of crashes reccently and now it is happening all the time, did a lot of tests and found out that the cpu is the culprit, i was doing a stress test and looked at hwmonitor and saw that, weirdly, the vcore min voltage was 0.252v. When i stopped the stresss test, the voltage suddenly spiked to 0.252 again and system became unresponsive. I analyzed the cpu for bent pins and it’s all clean and straight. Can i do something to keep the voltage to not go down like that or it is a hardware, unsolvable problem? I’ve slighted increased my dynamic vcore voltage on gigabyte’s MIT but it kept freezing and i dont really know if dynamic vcore is the same as vcore voltage or if it increases the minimal voltage so i didnt mess with that too much. Can someone give me some hints? Ty

Edit: i should point out that it also frezes at bios and already tested the cpu on another mothetboard and got similar freezes

Must be some BIOS setting, did you try factory defaults ?

Yes, i’ve cleared CMOS and load defaults. I kind of solved it yesterday, stayed all night without freezing. What i did was disable the global c-state control at bios, because i’ve suspected that voltage was dropping when idle cores entered on standby. By disabling it and putting windows power plan at performance mode it stopped the freezes, but this shouldn’t be happening anyway. Do you guys think i could RMA the cpu? I did OC the cpu and don’t have the original box, but the cpu is less than 3 years old, would the warranty still be up?

I still don't think it's about CPU itself, voltage control is thru BIOS, at best idle i haven't seen mine going under 0.46v

I would be inclined to agree with you, if i haven’t tried another cpu on this board that worked flawlessly, and also tried the 5800x on another board and it was still freezing. Excuse my ignorance, but could the bios write something on a cpu firmware? Is this even a thing?

There is microcode in every CPU and could be accessed thru BIOS. Speaking of which, do you have last BIOS version ?

Bios version is f62, its on f66 now, i could update it using the other cpu because it is still freezing with this cpu and im afraid of freezing during update. There are some notes about 5800x3d on bios update but none aboutr 5800x. But the computer worked for 2 years without freezing with f62. Do you think updating it would work? I mean, if it was workig before and i havent made any changes at bios during this time, i would be very surprised if it suddenly fix it
