Question Ryzen 7 3700x high temp with Noctua NH D15s

Hello. I have a temp issue with my R7 3700x high temp underload and idle with Noctua NH D15s. idle is above 45C, and underload like running Aida64 default selected option stress test cause the temp is go above 85C on HWinfo64. Even playing PlanetSide 2 cause the CPU temp to 77C and slowly reaching to 80C. I did reapply thermal paste with 3 dots and check the mounting, and it seems fine to me. Ryzen Balance Power Plan selected.

ROG Strix X470F
R7 3700x
2x16GB G.Skill DDR4 3200MHz RGB
Corsair 750D with 2x 140mm fans intake front and 1x 140mm exhaust back
Ambient is 30C

Check the temperature using Ryzen Master.

It is the most accurate tool for reading Ryzen 3000 CPU temperatures at this time.
HWInfo 6.12-3930 is close But not as accurate as Ryzen Master and if you are using an older version of HWinfo it isn't even close to accurate.

FWIW,
Your Ambient temperature and that solid front case certainly aren't helping you to cool your CPU/system.

HWInfo 6.12-3930 is close But not as accurate as Ryzen Master and if you are using an older version of HWinfo it isn't even close to accurate.

Your Ambient temperature and that solid front case certainly aren't helping you to cool your CPU/system.

Why HWInfo64 is not accurate? Ryzen Master has no monitoring record for maximum and minimum.

Are you sure you used the correct spacers to mount your Noctua? I believe you should use the grey ones with an AM4 CPU. Did you use the whites ones?

Also, if you used the correct ones, did you tighten the screws until they stop, or just when snug?

I use the Noctua AM4 kit I purchase for my Noctua NH D15/S from Amazon. I tighten them screws until them screws can no longer be tighten anymore. I use the MX 4 thermal paste and I use the 3 dots thermal paste apply method because I believe a single pea dot in the center is not enough for Ryzen. I just compared Ryzen Master, HWMonitor, and HWInfo64 and the temp reading for all three are not too far off each other. Temp is high like to 90C when doing Aida64 stress test. The same with Prime95 too. I need help.

Take the side panel off of the case and point a fan at the motherboard then run the Aida64 Stress Test and see if that helps.
If it does that shows you that you need to improve your case airflow.

No work either. I take the case off and pointing a fan and the temp reported from HWInfo64, HWMonitor, and Ryzen Master are still upper 80.

Why not apply a bigger single pea size so the is No chance of air bubble.

I don't know. I watch a video by Level1Tech where he recommend 3 dots for Ryzen CPU.

Are you using any of the Noctua adapters to slow the fan to reduce noise? How fast is your fan spinning?

No Low noise adapter. No dust. Fan cable plug all the way in. Is my air cooler defective? I have this CPU aircooler for 4 to 5 years now.
CPU Fan: 1506 RPM
Chassis 1: 1115 RPM
Chassis 2: 1218 RPM
Chassis 3: 1207 RPM
 
Theres not supposed to be a cure time for mx4 but wouldn't hurt putting it through some p95 or Occt for maybe 15-30 mins (if you have the time) then a complete power off cool down may 3-4times as if it had a cure time.
I've tried Oc Diamond, Mx4 and didn't have very good luck with temps.
Thermaltake TG7 has always worked the best for me on stock coolers and my 3 corsair watercoolers.

Think you missed my post.

Which direction did you install the HSF? Is it facing the rear with fan installed in the middle and clipped on the second sink toward the rear?

Take pics if you can

Here is a picture of running Aida64 today morning for 1 hour at ambient temp 26C. Max voltage is nearby 1.5v. On stock cooler, I will be throttle like a boss. On Noctua NH D15S cooler, it still running between 3.9GHz and 4Ghz.

Fluctuated between 75C and 81C. It has almost the same reading as HWInfo64 current temp reading. I run them one at a time. It still pretty dam hot! Noctua NH D15S can cool more than 65W TDP CPU.
Mine reads 75c during an Aida64 Run (@ 22c Ambient) with voltages similar to yours (1.38 to 1.4v max) in a Mesh front case with 3 120 mm intakes and 2 exhaust fans.

Set your Ambient Temp to 22c and see what temperature it reaches.
I still think your Ambient Temperature and Solid Front Panel Case (which severely restricts airflow) are causing the majority of your problem.

What chu mean restricted airflow? I can feel the good wind blowing in with the 2x 140mm fans intake front. Your max voltage is 1.4V not 1.5V where mine is at from HWInfo64. Here is the picture from idle temp from Ryzen Master.

My mistake, I looked up the case model you listed (Corsair 750D) and it showed a solid front not a mesh front like your picture shows.

Yours is the Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow which is Much better for airflow.
So, for you it seems Ambient temperatures and voltage are most likely the reasons for your high temps.

Your Idles temp (34.55c) looks decent, that really isn't bad considering your Ambient Temperature.

What BIOS version are you using ?
If you aren't using version 5220, you should update to that version and see if it helps.

I'd also try different Performance Enhancer settings (on the AI Tweaker Tab in your BIOS, try None and Level 1) and see if they help at all.

26C is decent ambient though imo. Robert @ AMD says 1.5V is "normal" max voltage at stock. My tech homie over here says no air, and probably AIO can handle 1.5V heats output on CPU.
