[SOLVED] Ryzen 7 3700x with B450-F

I'm planning on upgrading my motherboard and cpu and thought the R7 3700x looked good however all the motherboards I've looked at are way out of my budget I just wanted to know if the Asus Strix B450-F would work well with it?

B450-F would require a BIOS update, as would MOST B450 boards except for the MSI "max" models, and that board does not have BIOS flashback which means you would need a 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU in order TO update the BIOS with. There are about five or six MSI B450 boards with BIOS flashback, so they can be updated without a CPU installed, and then a handful of MSI boards from the "max" series that are already Ryzen 3000 compatible.

If you already have a first or second gen Ryzen 3, 5 or 7, or even a lower tiered model, then you can use it to flash a B450 or X470 board to a BIOS version that will support Ryzen 3000 processors.

Otherwise, you would need an X570 board.

Yes, that board has BIOS flashback and can be updated without an already compatible CPU being installed. It's also a very decent board.
