That just pisses me off. "I am the government, the death of thousands will be ok, trust us. They are evil."

I am sony i will watch you and make sure you don't pirate us. Well, that breaks the straw on the camels back for me. I will NEVER buy a PS3 because of this crap. Sure, i'll miss some descent games. But, i rather not have big brother watching over me and they thought they saw me doing illegal activity. So, they will send the cops and charge me falsely. I can see it now. They could even make an activation kind of thing like valve has.

F sony and F their products. I hope they go F themselves. I am going to go ebay my sony camera right now.
😗

This isn't true these days. The PS3 can display in a full 1080p. That's 1920x1080 resolution. I don't know about you, but even with a brand new super PC games like Crysis will not be able to run at those resolutions in a playable way. The consoles are absolutely catching up. Does that mean PC games are dying? Not at all. The reality is that consoles are becoming more like their PC brethren. The PC will always be a better platform for certain types of games, most notably FPS, MMORPGs, and strategy games. Consoles lend themselves well to action, sports, and party niche titles like Guitar Hero and anything on the Wii.

I'm a hardcore PC gamer, but I don't think it's PC games are dead or consoles suck, I just see them as a different animal. I'm excited about getting a Wii.

First don't get a Wii it's fun for about 2 days. PC FPS is the thing too go. Console FPS don't require alot of skills. Trust me I've played Halo series and Gears of War and you can't turn around to save your life (literally), because of most of the time I really need to turn around to save my life. That good thing about console FPSes are that it's plug and play. High end PC only FPSes can't ever be successful at multiplayer. Like R6 Vegas great on 360 no one ever played on PC.

According to the last lot of NPD numbers the PC platform had one of its best years in terms of games sold. And these numbers don’t include the number of games that are sold via digital distribution such as steam. The fact is the PC market is not going away if anything its getting stronger, the PC is even changing the way we purchase our video games, this makes the PC a trend setter whereas the consoles are trend followers. I have nothing against consoles (although the latest generation of consoles hasn’t caught my imagination yet), I just prefer PC’s, also it can’t be a coincidence that consoles are getting more and more like PC’s with every generation, you only have to see some the problems consoles owners have trying to get multiplayer games to work to see that.

RPGs will always continue to dominate PC rather than console due to multiplayer aspects and tons of different options/controls a character may have.

MMORPGs will RPGs will sorta be even split

In my personal opinion, game developers could open 'a whole bucket o' worms' (living in the south, sorry) by releasing their games on linux too. Now before you say "blah blah blah" and all that... there are a few reasons...

1. linux generally takes less resources (slightly cheaper gaming pc's)
2. possibility of problems being solved SOONER by the community...
3. people are frustrated with microsoft
4. nobody buys a mac
4. nobody buys a mac
5. DirectX is overrated
6. I doubt most pc users like "getting the shaft" by xp being unsupported as of 08.
7. I like Linux and I am cool
8. People that have linux pc's at work want to waste almost as much time as people that have windows pc's at work.
9. ID ROCKS!
10.... I could think of more, and prolly try to be funny for another 20 reasons or so... but i'll save you and stop now.

anyway. Point being. pc gaming has a VERY narrow scope, windows for the most part... and I don't know about you, but I've had such a better time getting EVERYTHING to work with linux than I ever did with windows.... I heart my games, but I'm not willing to get so ticked off at my pc anymore that I want to punch it because Microsoft can no longer make a decent operating system. 😛

another thought.... as far as all of you "old gamers" go... The first memorable game i played was maniac mansion... that game rocked, and still does! it was on a tandy... that was back when getting on "the internet" was an oddity and SLOW!... and the first thing me and my prepubescent cousin did... was look for pr0n! haha. anyway. old or not, i'm a die hard gamer at heart, been doing it since tandy and atari.

Just so you know, getting good reviews means very little, sites such as Gamespot will usually give a higher score to the console version over the PC version, a good example would be GRAW2, it's nothing short of a numb, retarded run and gun shooter on consoles but still gets 8.5 for PS3 and 8.7 for 360, but the PC version is a whole different animal, a COMPLETELY tactical shooter about 5-10 times more difficult (This is not a joke or exaggeration) resulting in a more compelling, Ghost Recon-like experience and instead it gets a 7.0.

Also reviews can be so far off depending on how biased is the critic, take for example Clive Barker's Jericho, it has been given a 6.5, however about 90% of the people on the forums will tell you that the game deserves at least a 7.5 or 8, I'm currently playing it right now and I concur this game is in no way a "6.5", more along the lines of an 7.5 or 8.

Bottom line is, shooters and RTS are best played on KB&M combo and it can't be denied, shooters require pinpoint accuracy and fast movements that cannot be provided by the joypad, and RTS require a lot of micro and macro management and quick commands to maximize your efficiency and thus gaining the upperhand in the struggle, something that the joypads can't simulate either. With this I'm not saying that joypads are just as bad as Halo is, but actually that they have their own uses for certain games, since I can't afford a wheel I'm getting an X360 controller to get back into racing games (KB&M just doesn't cut it on racing games) and also for some adventure games like Tomb raider Legend and Anniversary.

Yep!

One thing consoles have is value. Gaming PCs cost several hundred percent more than consoles. Kinda silly to spend so much just to play a few games (I do it too). A $550 PC these days could do just about everything except game.
