Safe operating temperature for Athlon 1.2GHz

Does anybody know the MIN and MAX safe temperature for operating the 1.2GHz Athlon (if not all other TBirds and Duron chips). I always get different answers from everyone I ask. I heard the MAX is 90 deg Celsius. I would think this is a bit high. Apparently there is also a MIN as the intense cooling and heating causes the CPU to become brittle and crack??? Tx

The min is depends on your cooling if you are using a set up that would cause condensation than that is the major issue but if you are bathing your computer in a non conductive liquid you can get pretty low –40*c or so. As for a max well that question has been asked over and over and over but anyway if you are running over 55*c on load I would worry. Personally I never let my CPU get over 50*c but that’s just me.

I think the 1.2ghz goes up to 95C, but that's the core measurement. The 40's are where you want to be according to your temp. readout, but you can operate 50-60 stable.
If you manage to get it down to the minimum, and crack the cpu, I bet someone will give you a new processor if you just tell them how you did it...

A safe maximum is 60 degrees celsius. Usually mobo temp gauges are a little high, so keep it below 60 and you'll be okay. As for a minimum, the main problem with low temps is condensation (eg. Peltier), not the chips "brittleness". I think AMD lists the max spec at 95, but all you gotta do is keep it below 60 and you'll be fine. Good Luck.
