Hey guys. I just got a new LCD monitor, the Samsung 191T. Since the 192T is so new (and rather hard to come by) the price on the 191's is down around $600. SOoooo.. I broke the bank and got one. The problem is that I have been reading all these flat panel articles here at THG and only a few have downloadable color profiles (not to mention my monitor hasn't been reviewed). I was just wondering if somebody has a decent monitor profile for the Samsung 191T in DVI mode. I could be wrong though if color profiles only work in analog mode or something, but I didn't get that impression from reading the articles here. If anybody can help, please let me know. Thanks.

Hey there, i know this doesn't help you much with your question, but i got a question for you. I am in the market for buying a 19" myself, and the 191T seems like a good choice. Tell me, how are you finding this monitor? does it work well for you? how are games with it? thanks.

Well......I'm probably not the best guy to answer your question but here goes. I like the monitor in general. I think it still lags a lot when playing games and just moving the mouse cursor but then I'm a pretty die-hard CRT kinda guy. I got the 191T for my dad and I am just putting it through its paces in preparation for setting it up on the new system I am building for him. However, I do have to say that in comparison to some monitors I've seen, it looks very nice. It is height adjustable (which apparently a big thing for LCD's) not to mention that it has both analog and digital connections. Until somebody can send me a good monitor profile though, I would suggest using it in analog mode. In digital mode you can't adjust anything and being a CRT guy, I think the contrast needs some manual adjustment. I tend to think that the backlight makes things glow more than they should. To compensate for the brightness/backlight issue, I adjusted the gamma setting for my vid card's driver properties to .8, down from 1.0. After doing that the whites didn't look quite perfect (a little dingy). Once again, all of this is from the eyes of a CRT man so this could be the best of the best for 19" LCD's and I don't even know it. The viewing angle thing is kind of strange to me as well. I had to jack the height up a bit so the center of the monitor was dead center with my eye level in order to see accurate color on all four corners. One good side effect, I think, is that now I have to sit up straight to view the whole screen, thus relieving my lower back a bit 😉. On a positive note, I can see stuff very clearly and I have no problems reading text and the colors are very crisp. So far I have played Jedi Knight II and an old 320x240 RPG while using the monitor and I have to say that they both looked very good. The interpolation in 320x240 was pretty darn good and there were no streaking colors or inaccurate images, though I could see the pixels clearly as if the game needed some antialiasing. The clarity of the main character in JKII (Kyle Katarn) as well as the storm troopers and what not was also excellent. I've even taken it for a test drive on a newer rig at Best Buy (they have these little Alienware.com PC displays in the store now). They had Enter the Matrix and Warcraft III at the store and it looked very good on both, despite the motion blur/afterglow/response time latency you see in all high frame rate games. I have yet to see a 19" or greater LCD (or any other size for that matter) with 16ms or 20ms response time so I really have nothing to compare it too. All in all, this is a very good monitor and I would highly recommend it, especially since it's down around $600 now online.

Ok, Ok, this is getting a bit frustrating. I see the new 19" Flat panel review up there but it fails to mention this monitor. They only talk about the 192B (whatever that is). I've only ever seen the 191T, 192T, and both with an N after them instead of a T (marking them as analog only). None of these were reviewed and it wasn't mentioned if the 192B was anything like these others. I hope more research is done the next time around (whenever that is).
