Samsung 840 SSD Program issue

I am trying to install Samsung Magician and keep get and error, see attachment link. I am a network/computer guy for a living so I have verified that the WMI service is running and I even went to the point of stopping services and renaming the repository directory and restarting everything. No luck. Anyone ever see this and have a solution? I can't even update firmware until Samsung Magician is installed.

With all due respect Dereck, I'm a computer guy for a living, I stated in my original thread I already validated that the service is running and even went to the level of recreating the repository. This issue is beyond that basic function.

I am having the same issue. Tried calling Samsung this evening, but they said to call back between 9am - 6pm (timezone?).

I just purchased a Lenovo W520 and read a good set of posts regarding this issue here:

Although none of these suggestions helped me, perhaps one of these suggestions may help others.

I get the same error when I try to install version 4.0. When I try install the 3.2 version, I get the following message:

Just got off the phone after a lengthy call with Samsung support. They are recommending that you run the 3.2 version of software magician which can be found here:

The trick to getting around this issue is to run the executable in XP SP3 compatibility mode. To do this:

1) right click the executable and select Properties
2) select the Compatibility tab
3) click the checkbox marked Run this program in compatibility mode for:
4) in the dropdown box, select Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
5) click Apply
6) click OK
7) run the setup program as administrator

When I followed these steps, I finally got it installed. BTW, Norton Ghost is no longer available to do cloning, but Samsung has software that will do this here:

Just download the version from the Samsung Data Migration Software section.
