Forget all these minor patents for a moment, I'm pretty sure Gene Roddenberry invented the tablet / smartphone in the first place back in the 80's. Cue "Star Trek: TNG"...and to be fair he invented them before the technology even existed to create them. Shouldn't his family get royalties from all these firms for stealing the idea, and then claiming it as their own?

I agree with jojesa, it's the damn patent offices that cause the problem in the first place...half these things should not be patentable.

Or maybe Samsung can cite a previously unknown and recently discovered defect in chips in the Iphone4, and have them recalled.

regarding pinch to zoom and double click zoom , actually those are innate behaviors built in yr brain and should never given the patent rights originally . the proof is if you bring people that are not familiar with iphone nor any other touch screen and you show them picture and told him this is touch screen and ask them to zoom that image they would immediately do double tapping or pinching the screen
so since when human innate behaviors are allowed to be patent owned by company
thank you
