[SOLVED] Samsung Evo 860 Running At Less than Half the Advertised Speed

Hi, So I just benchmarked my SSD and saw that my read and write speeds are 250mb/s and 218mb/s respectively. I ran the benchmark three time, and the results are very similar. The benchmarking app used is Samsung Magician.

I bought this SSD a couple of months ago as an upgrade from my old HDD. I'm currently using it as my boot drive and also to store some small games.

Currently the storage is 179/232 GB.

Sadly, I didn't benchmark my SSD the first time I bought it so I couldn't tell if the problem was after or before use.

If anyone has any idea or need more info, let me know.

The app used is Samsung Magician.
The motherboard is an ECS H61H2-MV LGA 1155.

I see....Is it because of my old motherboard that only supports sata 2?

That is absolutely the issue.

Performance depends on the slowest device in the chain.
Here, the motherboard and its SATA II ports.

I see.. And I assume that I couldn’t get the the full 300mb/s of my sata 2 since my ssd is almost full?

Being near full is a small part of the equation, but yes...a part.

The result you're seeing is entirely typical for a SATA II connection. It is what it is.
