my wife has an S2 and I have a note 2. Samsung will continue to get my money. The wife wants a note 2 when her phone is up. Apple saw their last dollar from me with the iphone 4.

Many people commenting won't have experience with both platforms. I do and
Samsung just does it better. It was better with the S2. The note 2 is ridiculously far ahead.
Google plays a huge part in Samsung's success.

[citation][nom]Stickmansam[/nom]Does this mean they can make phones cheaper since they make so much profits...[/citation]

S3 can be had outright for $550. Compare that to Samsung's major competitor of $700 and upwards.
Samsung worked hard to make their S-Series a continued success after the Galaxy S became a hit from out of nowhere, even if it had some major faults that even I had to shoulder(notably, RAM and filesystem speed issues).

I'm going to say Samsung deserves it, they make some of the best devices out there regardless of what fanboys think.
There's been a lot of suing going on towards them, because Samsung was inspired by other companies.

Sadly, those companies instead of reaching agreements seek huge fines, injunctions etc..
People, Innovation is about bringing new ideas to the table and ALSO improving on past ideas for the future.

It isn't about creating something that can never be improved.

[citation][nom]reprotected[/nom]Now if you replaced Samsung with Apple on the title, the comment section would be at it's 3rd page by now.[/citation]
Yeah because when you buy a Samsung device, you pay 99% for the product and 1% for customer support/warranty whereas with Apple it's 50% for product and rest for god knows what.

" Samsung shipped 18 million Galaxy S3 units during the third quarter.
.... And became the best-selling smartphone on the planet during the third quarter, a title that was held previously by Apple's iPhone 4S."

When will this lie stop? Apple sold 26 million iPhones in that quarter. Clearly 26 is more than 18.

And he clearly states that S3 outsold iPhone 4S and not all iPhones.

I thought iPhone users were supposed to be "smarter"?

Your reading comprehension needs improvement. Apple sold 26 million iPhones, 16.2 million of those were iPhone 4S's. The 4S held the biggest chunk of iPhone sales, just as the Galaxy S3 held the biggest chunk (18.1 million) of Galaxy sales, which were 44 million for that quarter (and as i'm sure you can determine on your own, 44M > 26M.

So, in summary, Samsung's best-selling smartphone beat Apple's best-selling smartphone, AND Samsung's entire smartphone line outsold Apple's entire smartphone line.

Also, despite the expectations of record iPhone sales, Samsung is projected to widen it's lead in Q4 with estimates of about 12M more galaxy sales as compared to iPhone.

Apple analysts continue to be baffled by the steady drop in Apple's stock price, while the explanation is crystal clear to guys who know the tech. Apple is not a comeback-team...they only play well with a lead.

They are already making phones cheaper... hence the profits. Are you asking if they can/will *sell* them cheaper?

Details, details.

Apple does not disclose the exact sales details by models. It's a guess

Lets all remember Samsung sells numerous smart phones with the Galaxy S3 being most popular. So yes Samsung is #1 smart phone brand. Also making nearly everything else in the consumer electronics world.

Originally Apple used Samsung to manufacture parts then Samsung seeing the wild popularity of Apple smart phones decided to jump into that market thus the battle between the two companies started since it appeared Samsung took many Apple ideas for their own. Now Samsung has the muscle to make its own designs and ideas. Just hope the stiff competition keeps improving devices for us :)

Yes, this 2012 is really Samsung year,, they beat anyone in smartphone and now they trying to get another market like laptop and SSD

I'm actually very surprised by the success of the S3. I had an S2 for just over a year, and got rid of it after ICS (4.0.4 I believe). It would constantly clear my RAM forcing each of my icons to load one by one everything I'd minimize an App. Only about 30% of calls would go through, the texting and switching apps was laggy (Yes I factory restored it)

I now have an iPhone 5 and couldn't be happier. Android fans are simply iHaters. They think a quad core > dual core every time when it really is up to the optimization of the software. Samsung's system is too fragmented, and while they do have some interesting features, the clunkyness and unreliability is such a pain
