A few months ago one of the built in speakers in my Samsung Notebook Series 9 NP900X4B started distorting sound a little bit. It has gotten worse over a period of a few weeks and the second speaker was infected as well.

After reinstalling sound drivers, I went on to I find online a disassembly guide, opened it up, and found tiny metal shavings from work that were stuck to the speakers' magnets, and tried to remove them, even though there was no visible physical damage to the speaker's membrane. It didn't help, so the next step was buying new (used) speakers. I replaced the old ones and autopsied one of the faulty ones, and could see no visible damage. Yet the problem was resolved, and from there on I was careful not to let metal shavings near my laptop, just in case...

A few days later one of the "new" speakers started distorting sound again:tired:
I'm playing at very moderate volume levels. The patient is about 10 years old, running Windows 10. Any help would be much appreciated🙂
